This is an architectural proposal that integrates a stadium with R & D institutions for sports-related technologies such as sports science, sensoring, and digital technology.
The relationship between sports and digital technology has changed significantly compared to what it was in the past. Athletes accumulate and analyze behavioral data to break records. The spread of e-sports pushes the definition of sports into the digital realm.
On the other hand, digital technology has caused us many negative effects, such as increased technology addiction and digital stress.
We believe that the negative effects of these digital technologies can be eliminated by experiencing sports and media art and bringing us back to the physical realm. We also believe that the fusion with digital will make sports a higher level and more enjoyable.
Functions will be mixed here. For example, a stadium or exhibition room can be used as a place to display the results of research and development. We are also considering that this facility will grow into a place to create cyber sports and media art using technologies such as VR. By synergizing the ability to attract customers for media art and sports events, it is possible to earn more profit than conventional sports facilities.
In order to make it a sports facility that is easy for everyone to use, we propose a space that combines the landscape and architecture of the park. Spaces with various functions are loosely connected by running tracks that continue from the park, allowing the use of a variety of users, from athletes to local residents. There are a lot of large stairs and slopes to connect the function of the park into the architecture. This is effective not only for exercising but also for creating a place where many people gather for events. In addition, it will be a unique landmark in the urban skyline of Osaka.
In the interior space, we emphasize the ability to flexibly use a multifunctional space. For example, by adopting movable seats in the stadium, it is possible to select a mode in which the court is largest or a mode in which the occupancy rate is emphasized to secure the maximum number of seats. In addition, by setting a buffer area between the research facility and the court as an industry-academia collaboration space, it is easy to access both functions.
